Another easily reachable destination from Marina di Ragusa is Marzamemi, in the province of Syracuse. It is a small hamlet of Pachino, near the beautiful baroque city of Noto. The village has developed around its marina and in the past, it has been an important centre for fishing and tuna processing as evidenced to this day, by the presence of the ancient ”Tonnara” (red tuna market).
Here we have a beautiful beach bathed by a limpid sea. The village has maintained the characteristic physiognomy of a fishing village and for this reason has been the setting for many films including "South" by Gabriele Salvatores, "Kaos" by the Taviani brothers, "I Malavoglia" by Pasquale Scimeca, "L'uomo of the stars "by Giuseppe Tornatore, as well as the famous Inspector Montalbano television series.
Fishing is still thriving in the area and feeds numerous restaurants where you can taste typical Sicilian cuisine. In the summer, the town celebrates the festival of San Francesco di Paola with a procession on the sea, while the nights are cheered up by numerous clubs with music and dancing.

Marzamemi and Portopalo
The colours of the sky and the sea in Marzamemi and Portopalo di Capopassero are indescribable, the celestial sky tends to merge with the clear colours of the sea, at times, seen almost without a horizon.
